Jou La Borda. A decoration with a vintage and traditional soul.

Known as the typical Andorran restaurants, bordes were originally country houses where farm tools were stored, and herd animals were kept. The oldest ones date back to the 16th century and are a true symbol of the time.

The one we present today has more than 150 years of history… Its particularity? It has become a true gastronomic reference of the Pyrenees. Jou La Borda, from the Pyrénées group, is a restaurant that perpetuates traditions through its cuisine and an interior design with surprisingly modern touches.

Going there is like traveling to a beautiful mountain place and discover the magic of an eye-catching decoration.

A fusion of past and present with the 100% FS essence.

With Francisco Segarra’s interior design team at the head, Jou la Borda opens its doors in Syspony; a small village in the Principality of Andorra. Bringing back to life an old manor house; this has been the aim of this 100% FS project with a vintage and traditional soul.

The “Jou” is like that old wooden rope used to transport animals along the hills. A border the name, architecture and concept of which pay homage to the rural wealth of its region.

From its local cuisine to the decoration of its spaces, the restaurant preserves the long-lasting values, brings out the most elegant side of tradition and subtly embraces modernity.

Two spaces… two vital moments.

“We want to make people not wanting to leave El Jou”. Miquel Ristol, responsible for the area of restoration of Grup Pyrénées.

Divided into two floors, Jou la Borda gives us the possibility to live two vital moments. Good eating; as an intimate moment of meeting, enjoyment and sharing. And good drinking, as a representation of social bond, union and fun.

The first floor is also a small traditional bistro where the product is king and is enjoyed on low heat. Large windows, wood, iron, warm colours… Under the beam ceilings and wrapped by stone walls, the dining room adopts the typical style of the bordes and offers a most welcoming dining experience.

The ground floor is a cosy bar where you can enjoy an aperitif or a dessert with cocktails. High tables, backlit furniture, vintage tiles… With the bar counter as the protagonist, this space brings out the most contemporary side of the place without giving up its essence.

Vintage furniture at the service of creativity.

In this restaurant, vintage furniture finds its place. Here in Jou la Borda, the past is the best decorative tool to give the place its most authentic and creative character.

Leather chairs, iron stools, upholstered armchairs, bench seats… The seats embody vintage aesthetics in all their glory while the wooden communal tables and antiques highlight its more rustic character.

Warm and dim, the lighting guarantees intimacy and gives the most elegant side to the whole. And all together, Francisco Segarra’s pieces of furniture lend themselves to creativity so that the atmosphere of the place is as pleasant as possible.

This project joins the great 100% FS designs. A brand capable of giving life to unique decorations and completely revolutionize the world of hospitality and contract.
